The river Neris springs from Belarus, passes trough Lituania and ends after a route of 510 km at the river Neman. This introduction aims to present an important element affecting in time the quality of the steel structure.

About the project

 

The metal structure of a bridge near Jonova (Lithuania) was refurbished by applying corrosion protection systems  Proguard 96 and Proguard 169. The results were very good. The huge steel structure of 4500 m² is permanently protected from aggressive elements of the environment.

The components affected by corrosion were treated by grit blasting, according to standard SA 2.5. To obtain the best results, we recommend obtaining a rough profile.

Proguard 96  corrosion protection system was applied by airless spray on previous preparated surface. A layer of 200 μm is sufficient to eliminate the factors leading to corrosion.

For weather resistance and UV stability, polyurethane product Proguard 169 was sprayed as a thin layer.

Proguard 96 is a 2-component ceramic composite epoxy coating. This product features high corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance as well as extreme impact hardness. It is excellently qualified as base coating for external applications in outermost aggressive environments, particularly against alkaline influences. For hydraulic steel structures with high strains of water, salt and de-icing salt Proguard 96 is the ideal choice.

Proguard 169 is a 2-component highly-crosslinked polyurethane coating. This product provides long lasting resistances against UV-radiation and weather conditions. Furthermore, Proguard 169 offers excellent color stability and abrasion resistance. This product is applied in one layer and cures fast. It also features a high chemical resistance, thus besides typical scopes it is even used in very aggressive environments.
